Christina Smith, Set and Costume Designer

A Western Australian Academy of Performing Art graduate, Christina has worked with the top theatre companies in Australia over the last 11 years. Her productions for the Melbourne Theatre Company include Clean House (’06), Dumb Show (’06), Things We Do For Love (’05), The Daylight Atheist (’04), Honour (’04)
and Cloud Nine (’03). She also designed the set for their production of Boy Gets Girl (’04) and the costumes for Humble Boy (’03) and Proof (’02).

Christina designed both the set and costumes for the 2006 Victorian Opera production of Cosi Fan Tutte, the Bell Shakespeare Company’s Two Gentlemen of Verona (’05), Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Troupers (’07), Black Media (’05) for the Malthouse Theatre/Company B Belvoir, Neonheart Theatre’s Eskimo Calling (’03) and the Playbox productions of Julia 3 (’04), Ruby Moon (’03), Svetlana in Slingbacks (’02), Post Felicity (’02) and Inside 01 (’01). Not to mention the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Other companies Christina has collaborated with are Red Stitch, La Mama, The Australian Ballet, Ilbijerri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Theatre Company, the Black Swan Theatre Company, Hit Productions and most recently Jim McPherson Inc, for their production of RESPECT the Musical (’07
